Little Tikes Tap-a-Tune Drum

There is a lot of excitement in our house when toys arrive by courier for us to review, especially from Prima Toys. Of course there is the surprise for the children as they open up the boxes and discover what has arrived. Then there is the fun of testing them out and sharing it with all our friends. I don’t accept just any toys to review though, and we sure put them through their paces. I was confident though that the Little Tikes brand would live up to our high expectations.

Prima Toys sent us the Little Tikes Tap-a-Tune Drum and Discover Sounds Hammer to review. They are both great products and aimed at different age groups.

If you are looking for a baby toy, the Little Tikes Hammer is a super choice. Durable, interactive and suitable from 6+ months, this is a great starter toy. As baby gets older, use the hammer as part of imaginative games such as workshop and builder. Keep it exciting by asking them to hammer pieces of wood/building blocks or ‘fix’ things around the house.

Little Tikes Tap-A-Tune Drum and their range of musical toys, help preschoolers and toddlers take their first steps into the world of music. These brightly coloured and durable toys will continue to provide creative play throughout their growing years. These toys, particularly the drum, have longevity and will be played again and again.

I should know, as Paige has been playing with the Little Tikes Xylophone for years now. As a baby, she learnt how to play the sounds by tapping the stick and improving her fine motor skills. At age 7, she can now follow music and play a song on her own. Together with her brother, they make a cute (and raucous) band.

There are two ways to play the Little Tikes Tap-a-Tune Drum. Children can play the basic drum with the two drum sticks or by hands on the top and bottom. Ethan loves to play it like he’s in a marching band, with the drum on its side and hitting both the top and bottom simultaneously.

The second way is by creating sounds using the six washboard grooves on the side of the drum. Rub the sticks across the sides to create different sound effects. Teach your child to drum to a beat, counting as they go. Play their favourite song on the stereo or TV, and ask them to drum and sing along. Besides the fun of making lots of noise, they will soon enjoy being able to follow a beat and make up rhythms over time.

Features

  • Drum with two ways to play
  • Six washboard sides for different sounds
  • Two sticks with holders
  • Suitable from 12+ months

Little Tikes Discover Sounds Hammer

Little Tikes Discover Sounds Hammer

The Little Tikes Discover Sounds Hammer makes an ideal baby toy. I soon learnt as a new mom that babies are a lot stronger than you think and sure love testing their toys against the floor or wall. Give a baby a toy and their little chubby arms begin waving it about and making contact with anything or anyone within a 3 metre radius. So why not give them a toy that they are meant to bash about and learn from?

This robust hammer will withstand the wild excitement of a baby’s grip and banging. When the hammer tip makes contact with a surface it lights up and plays 8 different engaging sounds. This teaches babies cause and effect and will improve their fine motor skills as they play.

Features

  • Tap or shake to activate 8 stimulating sounds
  • Lights up with movement
  • Textured grip is easy to hold and facilitates sensory development
  • Soft rubber handle can be used as a teether
  • On/off button so you can control the sound and save battery power
  • Batteries included
  • Suitable from +6 months
